Goodbye KSER. Goodbye Southern Region. Hello London and South East Region – or perhaps LASER for short.

At a matching pair of AGMs held at Little Oaks Club near Gatwick on Saturday 12th May 2012, the two old BN regions voted to dissolve themselves. Shortly afterwards the inaugural meeting decided the name of the new combined region by 13 votes to 10, following a short but lively debate. This was part of a planned simplification of BN’s regional structure.

The Chairman of the new region is Norman Donachie, former Secretary of Southern Region. The remaining officers were also voted in unanimously and unopposed, continuing their former KSER roles: Secretary – Ian Halls, Treasurer – Maggie, Regional and Members Rep – John Rodgers. There were no names put forward for the Youth Rep role, so that position remains open – any volunteeers?

For the time being at least, the URL of the region’s website will remain as southeast.bn.org.uk

The date and place of the next regional meeting was set for 6th October 2012 at Apollo Sun Club in West Sussex (to be confirmed). All BN members in the region will be welcome to attend regional meetings as part of our drive for openness and involvement.

Portslade, Sussex

This long established beach, sometimes known as Shoreham Beach, is less than 5 miles West of the better-known beach at Brighton.

Owned by the local port authority who tolerate its use by naturists. Beach is a shingle bank with sand at low tide. Peaceful beach with a fair number of regular local users.

Limited number of parking spaces beside Basin Road South at the Western end of the naturist section (avoid the designated lorry parking bays!). Or park in Portslade itself and walk half a mile down the coast past the boating lake Westwards toward the power station (tall chimney).

Arriving by train at Southwick Station, cross the main coast road (A259 – Albion Street) and cross the harbour using the pedestrian route across the locks, then turn Left along Basin Road South for about half a mile.
